Coronation Street, affectionately referred to as Corrie, is a beloved British soap opera that first aired on ITV on December 9, 1960. Produced by Granada Television at MediaCity Manchester, Coronation Street is broadcast in all ITV regions and has garnered international acclaim. On September 17, 2010, it achieved the distinction of being the world’s longest-running TV soap opera in production. A significant milestone was reached on September 23, 2015, when Coronation Street aired live to commemorate ITV’s 60th anniversary.
The show airs six times a week, with episodes scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:30-8 pm and 8:30-9 pm. Since 2017, ITV3 has been airing ten consecutive classic episodes of the series dating from 1986 onwards each week. The concept for the programme was originally developed in 1960 by scriptwriter Tony Warren at Granada Television in Manchester.
